Chanel Lilas Baume Essentiel ($45.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a translucent, pinkish-lavender with neutral-to-cool undertones and a dewy, lightly pearlized sheen. In my experience, this formula really works best as a highlighter or lip balm, as it has no staying power as an eye product (it is marketed as a multi-tasking formula!).

  • Sheer coverage (as marketed)
  • Balmy, emollient, spreadable
  • Applied fairly evenly but best with a brush to avoid lifting base products
  • Lasted ~6 hours as a cheek product, ~2 hours as a lip balm, almost no longevity as an eye product

Wine and Only ColourPop Wine and Only 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.36 oz.) is the newest release–and I think one of the last of the year–that includes a mix of shimmers and matte shades in a wine-inspired color story. The mattes were nicer than the shimmers, on the whole, though Grapeful has a ton of sparkle and not much that keeps it bound with the base, so that one had a lot of fallout. The shimmers were decent but did not perform as well as some past shimmers have from the brand. For those keeping count, there are a few Pressed Pigments, which come with the warning that they are not intended for use around the immediate eye area under FDA regulations, though these types of pigments are approved for usage on the eye in areas like the EU. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one layer, which applied evenly and spread easily across my lips, but there was a bit of product that settled into my lip lines–not quite enough to be noticeable from a normal viewing distance.
