Haus Labs Beige, Chartreuse, Olive Optic Intensity Eyeliners Reviews & Swatches

Beige Matte Haus Labs Beige Matte Optic Intensity Eyeliner Pencil ($22.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium-dark, peachy beige with warm, more orange-leaning undertones and a matte finish. Opaque, buildable coverage Smooth, glide-on consistency, did not tug Applied evenly, was comfortable to use Long-wearing (eight hours on lower lash line, six hours on waterline was typical) FURTHER READING : Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Formula Overview Ingredients Formula Overview $22.00/0.04 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have "high-impact" color with "long-wear" that is "waterproof" and "glides like a liquid." The majority of the eyeliners had semi-opaque to opaque coverage, which was quite good for a pencil eyeliner. The matte shades tended to have the highest and most even coverage compared to the shimmers, which were less consistent. The texture was lightweight, sm...

Maison Tahite Vicious Cacao Perfume Review

Maison Tahite Vicious Cacao is a well-blended mix of gourmand, chocolate, booze, and sugar that evokes warm, boozy cake, then caramel-drizzled cake, and then something slightly fruity and floral, not quite so photo-realistic, and sweeter from benzoin than pure sugar. The cocoa was the star throughout the different phases of the perfume, and while there were parts that were sort of cake-like, it did feel more like a perfume inspired by cocoa than literal cocoa (which may or may not be what you’re looking for). Vicious Cacao Notes It is described as a being reminiscent of “cake” that is “enhanced by noble flowers and enveloping resins.” These are the listed notes: top notes: raspberry, rose pepper, rum heart notes: amber, narcissus, cocoa absolute, jasmine base notes: salty caramel, sandalwood, saffron, oak moss, benzoin What does Vicious Cacao Smell Like? It opened with a soupcon of vanilla cake, pepper, boozy rum, and cocoa. It soon became salty, chewy, and darkly sweet w...

Makeup by Mario Light SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Perfector Review & Swatches

Light Makeup by Mario Light SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Perfector ($34.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a light, golden brown with warmer, yellow undertones and a satin sheen. Medium, buildable color coverage (supposed to be sheer) Smooth, finely-milled consistency; slightly powdery Blendable but harder to pick up an even color due to gradient design Long-wearing (eight hour wear) FURTHER READING : Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Formula Overview Ingredients Formula Overview $34.00/0.31 oz. - $109.68 Per Ounce It's supposed to "perfect, illuminate, blur, and set" with a "radiant glow." Ultimately, it is supposed to be part bronzer, highlighter, and finishing powder. I'm not entirely sure why the range only has five shades when the coordinating balm has six shades. This formula is supposed to have "sheer coverage," but it was fairly pigmented and harder to get sheerer coverage given the...

(Late) Friday Finds & Check-ins, Volume #659

Share your recent beauty purchases or rediscovered favorites in your stash (for those on low/no-buys!), chit chat about weekend plans, and learn a little more about each other! Let's Chat! Share your own answers in the comments! Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries : Haus Labs highlighters/bronzers, Pat McGrath Divine Blush Duos/Highlighters (working on editing those today, hopefully!) Weekend plans : Friday ended up being a dark day, so it was quite hard to focus – shifted a lot of my Friday to-dos to today (Saturday). My parents came over for dinner and a movie last night, which was nice. So, today’s plan is edit photos and swatches, upload them to the database, and then crank out some reviews for the week. I’d like to pop over to my parents’ house sometime over the weekend (weather pending) so Winnie can get a swim in. When you get angry, how do you center yourself? Most of the time, I vent to hubby, and it’ll dissipate. For me, just getting the words out, no matter how angry,...

Ex Idolo Thirty Three Perfume Review

Ex Idolo Thirty Three Eau de Parfum might catch one unaware with its slightly rubbery note in the opening, along with pepper and candied orange, but the rubbery note was diminished and left as more of an earthy element after 15 to 30 minutes. From there, it was a heavy rose scent with a greener, crisper rose–leafy and just in bloom during the early dawn–rather than a very sweet or jam-like rose. It wasn’t until the drydown that the rose sweetened, and then it was joined by blurred, woody notes. Thirty Three Notes It is described as being inspired by vintage oud and uses a “significant amount of wild-harvested Chinese oud” with “natural Chinese rose oil.” top notes: soft black pepper, candied mandarin, caoutchouc heart notes: Chinese white tea, Chinese rose, Taif rose, orris, Damascus steel base notes: vintage oud, aged patchouli, heliotropine What does Thirty Three Smell Like? It opened up with a burst of peppered orange, which softened and sweetened, and became chewier a...

Makeup by Mario Light Medium SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer Review & Swatches

Light Medium Makeup by Mario Light Medium SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer ($30.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a light-medium brown with subtle, rosy warmth and a dewy sheen. Semi-sheer to medium, buildable coverage Lightweight, balm-like with high slip and glossier finish (no dry down) Blendable over bare skin and on top of foundation without lifting it up Lacked longevity (4 to 5 hour-wear), tendency to slide FURTHER READING : Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Formula Overview Ingredients Formula Overview $30.00/0.18 oz. - $166.67 Per Ounce It's supposed to be a "weightless balm" that "warms, tints, and evens tone" that delivers "sheer coverage" with a "dewy finish." The key takeaway from the description is it is quite dewy--there was no dry down, so the product remained moderately emollient and almost a litte glossy on the skin. For better wear, I'd definitely recommen...
