Natasha Denona Palette 04 Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Palette 04

Natasha Denona Palette 04 Eyeshadow Palette 5 ($48.00 for 0.4 oz.) is a warm-toned, neutral palette that leaned slightly more orange-based. All five shades performed well; they were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Four of the five shades are more intense shimmer finishes, while one is more of a satin-matte.

Aura (25M)

Aura (25M) is a bright, white gold with a cooler, whiter base and warmer, brighter shimmer that shifted between cooler and warmer tones of gold. The texture was moderately dense with a touch of powderiness, which I think came from the white base, but it applied smoothly to bare skin when pressed and patted into place with a dry brush. It had good color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly on me.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce

The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.

The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.

Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Cool Bronze (31M)

Cool Bronze (31M) is a light-medium copper with strong, warm golden undertones and a bright, metallic finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, and it was the type of pigmentation that when paired with the creamier texture just went on and on. The consistency was smooth, dense without being thick or too firmly pressed into the pan, and creamy to the touch. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly on me.

There was nothing cool-toned about it, though 😉

Oxide (63M)

Oxide (63M) is a rich, deeper bronze with warm, orange undertones and a smooth, metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented and applied evenly to bare skin. The consistency was creamy, dense without being too thick or too firmly pressed into the pan, so it picked up well with dry brushes but had excellent adherence to my lid. It lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Cool Plum (70P)

Cool Plum (70P) is a muted, medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. The texture was soft, blendable, and smooth to the touch without being too powdery nor too firmly pressed into the pan. It felt like there was slight slip to the formula that gave it better blendability and made it sit more flatteringly on bare skin. It had excellent color coverage that stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Moonstone (59M)

Moonstone (59M) is a light-medium, peachy gold with strong, warm yellow undertones and a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges. The texture felt lightly creamy, dense without being too thick, and was a pleasure to work with. There were signs of fading after eight and a half hours of wear.
