Milani Lolla-Blue-Za Ludicrous Lights Duo Chrome Highlighter Review & Swatches

Lollapa-Blue-Za

Milani Lolla-Blue-Za Ludicrous Lights Duo Chrome Highlighter ($10.99 for 0.24 oz.) has a translucent base with iridescent shimmer and sparkle that twinkled between lighter and more mid-tone blue that ran slightly warmer-toned in its base and cooler-toned when reflecting light. It had sheer to semi-sheer, buildable coverage (to semi-opaque), which was in line with how it was marketed.

The texture was soft, blendable, and had good adhesion to bare skin while still spreading out without too much effort, but there were definitely sparkles that had migrated during application and during wear, so for someone who would side-eye random glitter above their lip, this might not be the right formula. The majority of the (faint) color and glittering finish lasted for a good eight hours on me.

If the idea of blue highlighter doesn’t immediately resonate with you, consider this: The translucent base makes this product work particularly well for layering and transforming shades on it, often by giving things a cooler sheen, so it naturally pairs well with lavender, pink, and plum blushes to give them an unexpected twist.

Formula Overview

$10.99/0.24 oz. - $45.79 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have buildable coverage that "blends and builds seamlessly" with a "silky, ultra-smooth" consistency. The texture was soft without being powdery, smooth (but noticeably sparkly), and blendable on my skin. There was a mix of finer shimmer and smaller flecks of sparkle throughout that gave it a very iridescent, smooth sheen to skin.

The coverage ranged from semi-sheer to mostly opaque, buildable in most instances, and was fairly blendable. There were some stray sparkles that dusted away during application and some that moved during wear, though most of the color wore well for eight hours.

ColourPop That's Taupe Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

That's Taupe Colour Pop That’s Taupe 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.30 oz.) is a new, nine-pan palette that is taupe-themed. It includes five matte eyeshadows, three shimmer eyeshadows, and one Super Shock Shadow (Slated). The matte eyeshadows were fairly smooth and velvety, blendable, and easy to work with, while the shimmers were so-so. I found the shimmers to be drier and more prone to fallout and lacking shine unless applied with a dampened brush (which wasn’t always the case with ColourPop’s shimmer formula). ColourPop Wine & Only Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Wine and Only ColourPop Wine and Only 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.36 oz.) is the newest release–and I think one of the last of the year–that includes a mix of shimmers and matte shades in a wine-inspired color story. The mattes were nicer than the shimmers, on the whole, though Grapeful has a ton of sparkle and not much that keeps it bound with the base, so that one had a lot of fallout. The shimmers were decent but did not perform as well as some past shimmers have from the brand. For those keeping count, there are a few Pressed Pigments, which come with the warning that they are not intended for use around the immediate eye area under FDA regulations, though these types of pigments are approved for usage on the eye in areas like the EU. Fenty Beauty Mauve Wives, Fenty Glow & Honey Waffles Gloss Bomb Creams Reviews & Swatches

Mauve Wives Fenty Beauty Mauve Wives Gloss Bomb Cream ($19.00 for 0.3 oz.) is a muted, medium mauve with subtle, cool undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one layer, which applied evenly and spread easily across my lips, but there was a bit of product that settled into my lip lines–not quite enough to be noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The texture was non-sticky, smooth, and plush without being too thick, though I felt like it was thicker than ideal for building up color as a second layer did feel noticeably thick and heavier. It wore well for four hours and felt moisturizing over time. FURTHER READING : Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent).
