“I love carefully thought-out choices that result in a cool flair of looking like I didn't try too hard and my beauty aesthetic is no exception. My robust skin-care routine, chock-full of K-beauty staples and clinical-grade brands, preps my skin for as little makeup as possible. And I subject myself to five-plus hours in a salon chair getting braids so I can avoid styling my hair daily for weeks at a time. My favorite compliment is, “You smell so good,” knowing I spent an unnecessary amount of time browsing through my 75 fragrances to achieve a pleasant whiff. The goal is always intentional effortlessness.” –Annie Blay, associate beauty editor
Wine and Only ColourPop Wine and Only 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.36 oz.) is the newest release–and I think one of the last of the year–that includes a mix of shimmers and matte shades in a wine-inspired color story. The mattes were nicer than the shimmers, on the whole, though Grapeful has a ton of sparkle and not much that keeps it bound with the base, so that one had a lot of fallout. The shimmers were decent but did not perform as well as some past shimmers have from the brand. For those keeping count, there are a few Pressed Pigments, which come with the warning that they are not intended for use around the immediate eye area under FDA regulations, though these types of pigments are approved for usage on the eye in areas like the EU.
